The game title is short for “No Shit, There I Was”, a classic opening line for any tale of daring-do. This particular campaign will be episodic in nature, at least for the heroic level tier; I intend to give new gamers (or gamers new to D&D 4E) the opportunity to explore different character types and figure out what suits their style. Once everyone has settled comfortably into their preferred role, the story may evolve into a more continuous narrative. Or it may not, as people prefer once that point is reached.
The basic premise of the campaign is that all the characters are currently dead, and the game sessions are effectively shared flashbacks as the characters hang out in Limbo and reminisce on their deeds in life. (A more narrative background introduction will be found in the Adventure Log.) Because the adventures are memories, there will be more opportunities than usual for the players to influence die rolls – after all, one should never let the truth get in the way of a good story!
The “Characters” tab has a few pre-generated options for inspiration. Let me know if one interests you, and I can transfer ownership of the character to your ObsidianPortal account. Be advised that the pre-gens were designed without each other in mind – while I think all the major party roles are covered by the various voices in my head that wanted out, I can’t promise it, and I can’t guarantee there’s any synergy (or at least efficiency) between them. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking the characters are better suited to this campaign just because I came up with them.
